Working for Baker Perkins
Here at Baker Perkins, our passion is for making processes work. As engineers it’s what makes us tick and keeps our customers happy.
But if you’re not an engineer and are looking from the outside in, wondering exactly what it is we do, well we’re the people who make the machines that make the breakfast cereals, biscuits, bread rolls and sweets that you enjoy on a daily basis.
So, whether your passion lies in engineering or in HR, sales, procurement, project management, you name it, if you have a can-do attitude and are a team player, Baker Perkins could be the perfect place for you to continue your previous line of work or head in a new direction.
Security when it matters most
At a time when we’re all looking for job stability, we’re proud to offer permanent roles instead of fixed term contracts for most of our roles.
We pay attractive salaries in line with the union, offer a pre-paid overtime scheme for shopfloor roles, helping you to boost your income, and a company-wide pension and healthcare scheme is also available.
Striking the right note
We recognise the importance of time away from work and everyone receives 24 days annual leave, plus Bank Holidays and time in between Christmas and the New Year.
Where roles accommodate it, we offer the flexibility of working from home to help balance your work/life commitments. We trust everyone to do their job and want you to feel empowered to do so.
Whatever your goals, we’ll help you reach them
We’re committed to helping our people reach their next milestone, whatever that may be.
Whether you’re an ambitious academic or a skilled worker who loves the early shift, we will provide the mentoring, training, personal development and opportunities to help you progress or continue doing what you’re brilliant at, both locally and as part of our international network within the Schenck Process Group.
What’s guaranteed is that no one day is the same and there’s plenty of variety on offer.
Everyone’s contribution counts
We started out as a family run business and despite the scale we operate at today, we’ve maintained a family-run feel and ethos. It’s an important part of our culture and what helps set us apart. As a small, close-knit team, we’re supportive and collaborative and welcome everyone’s ideas and input.
A career in STEM
To support the next generation of engineering talent, we run apprenticeships, graduate schemes, and industrial placements/internships.
These opportunities allow young people to work with experienced engineers and pursue their interest in this field, and hopefully a long, rewarding career with us.

The extra bits
If you live within the city or nearby, we run a cycle to work scheme, and there’s plenty of free parking on-site as well as a subsidised canteen.
We support initiatives and charities within our local community, as well as getting behind causes such as Movember. A lot of these activities are led by our staff, helping to build the camaraderie that makes coming to work alongside your mates enjoyable.
