Allied Bakeries extends service contract

Baker Perkins covers 90 machines in eight plants
Allied Bakeries has extended its Service Contract
with Baker Perkins to cover more than 90 key machines in
eight plants. These contracts provide preventative maintenance
ensuring machine performance meets agreed targets.
Baker Perkins already services dividing and moulding machinery at
five Allied Bakeries sites. It was the success of this contract
that led to the decision to cover three additional bakeries within
the Allied group.
Allied has also asked Baker Perkins to overhaul and
upgrade moulders at all its bakeries to ensure preventative
maintenance targets the highest possible quality standards.
Kevin Wright, Baker Perkins Customer Services Manager for
the bakery industry says, "Our experience at Allied and other
leading bakery groups has shown that preventative maintenance can
achieve far more than identifying potential problems and
eliminating them before they cause expensive down-time.
"The basis of these contracts is regular inspection and servicing
by a Baker Perkins engineer who understands the process as
well as the machinery. We identify opportunities for improvement,
and root causes of poor performance, as well as ensuring continuity
of production."
Allied Bakeries Engineering Manager Peter Wallin adds, "Benefits
include knowing the exact cost of running machines at approved
performance levels. Multi-site experience can be the basis for
developing best working practice across the group."
Service Contracts can cover unit machines or complete process
lines. Baker Perkins also provides condition monitoring
technology, with sensors and data logging equipment reporting on
the condition of key components; and benchmarking to compare
equipment performance with industry standards.
